Description:

This is a hilly 8.5 mile walk which gives some of the best views in the area on a fine day. We walk up through the woods to Stinchcombe Hill for views of Dursley, the Berkeley Vale, the River Severn, Forest of Dean, Malverns and the Black Mountains. Note that there are some stiles on this route.)

We drop down from Stinchcombe Hill and follow the Cotswold Way to North Nibley, then up to Tyndale Monument where we will eat our packed lunch.

Tyndale Monument commemorates William Tyndale who translated much of the bible into English. If you like, head up the 120 spiral tower steps for even better views (£1 suggested donation).

After lunch we go downhill again and head for Waterley Bottom and past a vineyard. A steep ascent takes us up to Breakheart Quarry and we go through the woods for our descent back into Dursley.

It will then be time for a well earned pint in The Old Spot (or tea and cakes at a local café).
